Is the fountain of youth in our own blood?

For centuries people have been looking for the fountain of youth. Did you know you may not have to look any further than your very own blood? We are referring to PRP.

PRP is plasma that has been “super-charged” with many more platelets than what is normally found in a usual drop of blood. In PRP the concentration of platelets, and the “growth factors” within are as much as 10 times greater than “ordinary” plasma.

As such when injected, PRP promotes healing and the growth of new cells, which creates the so called “Fountain of Youth”.

WHAT IS PRP?

PRP is an acronym for "platelet-rich plasma". Basically a high concentration of platelets suspended in the patients plasma. The essence of your blood contains life-giving fundamental protein growth factors that play a significant role in regulation of cell growth. PRP can directly enhance wound healing and stimulate the regeneration of new skin cells and tissue by stimulating keratinocytes and fibroblasts. Platelet-rich plasma is activated to release at least 8 essential growth factors and signals proteins to the area it has been injected. HOW IS PRP EXTRACTED? It's simple: the practitioner draws a small amount of blood, then places it into a centrifuge where it spins and separates the platelets from the other components of the whole blood. The platelets are put into a syringe to be used for the treatment area. HOW IS PRP BENEFIT ME? FACE: When applied during and after MicroNeedling, the benefits will be a more rapid healing time and healthier, more radiant skin. People have experienced volume increase, lessened visible wrinkles, reduction in acne scarring and essentially more youthful skin. SCALP: Platelet-rich plasma is injected into the balding or thinning areas. Results can be an increase in hair density, and/or an increase in the number of hairs within 3-6 months on most patients. *Recent studies in Dermatologic Surgery from Italy verify success of PRP for hair loss in 61 out of 62 patients. Average improvement is 40 to 70%. It is best for early hair loss. The PRP injection can be repeated to further boost hair growth.
