Offering Advanced, State-of-the-Art Technology & Unmatched Experience

Painful veins are caused by blood flow going down the leg rather than up. Correcting this issue can be life-saving. Learning about Varicose & Spider veins and how they cause  venous disease can help you understand why you have symptoms, and how to treat them. However, for an accurate diagnosis it is best to come in and see us.  We offer a free consult with ultrasound scanning to diagnose and customize a treatment plan. Dr. Merkel has been on the forefront of treating varicose veins for decades and uses the latest technology to treat them.

Get back on your feet, get out of pain and enjoy being outside with your family again.

State-of-the-Art Vein Treatment for

Varicose Veins & Spider Veins

Free Ultrasound Scanning

Sclerotherapy is widely used and a highly effective medical procedure used to eliminate varicose veins (from legs) and spider veins. During a sclerotherapy procedure, Dr. Merkel will inject your varicose veins with a liquid agent that closes the veins. The veins should fade away in a few weeks. You won’t need anesthesia and this can be performed in our office.

Laser Therapy

During laser therapy, we will use a laser on the surface of the skin to destroy the (micro)varicose veins with heat. The heat causes beneficial scar tissue to form, which then closes off the vein. You may need more than one treatment to fully eliminate the vein.

Laser Ablation

Laser ablation is a great non-surgical option that has shown to be equally effective as compared to surgical removal with much less downtime. A tiny laser fiber is placed inside the vein and then the laser delivers light that causes the vein to collapse. This heat closes the vein so blood cannot flow the wrong direction anymore; leading to a “disappearance” of the varicose vein. Laser ablation is often accompanied by chemical ablation (sclerotherapy) for maximum effect of closing down abnormal veins. This procedure is most often performed with local anesthesia combined with IV sedation.
