Say goodbye to that double chin!

This is an issue that many people face. Be young, old, fit, or, yes- famous. Plastic Surgery Specialists and The Medical Spa have helped many people feel better about their profiles with a simple fix. As technology advances the double chin has become an easier "non-surgical" procedure.

Here we compare ThermiTight and Kybella.

What is the difference between ThermiTight and Kybella?

ThermiTight is a minimally invasive procedure that melts fat and tightens skin . (for double chin, and other areas of the body)

  • ThermiTight utilizes radio frequency which produces gentle controlled heat to melt fat and tighten skin, and typically only requires one procedure. It is administered with a sub-dermal probe that is inserted painlessly after local anesthesia is administered.

  • ThermiTight uses a thermal imaging camera that shows the exact area treated and the exact temperature of the skin, this ensures that no area is left untreated nor overtreated.

  • Although it is a non-surgical solution to a neck lift, it must be done by someone with experience and the right equipment.

If you are considering ThermiTight to combat the signs of aging and that dreadful sagging skin, here are a few things you should know: ThermiTight is minimally invasive and ideal for most people that are in good health, ThermiTight is long lasting, and usually only requires one treatment but a second treatment is possible for a patient with advanced neck fat and loose skin. ThermiTight is most often used for the neck and face, with amazing results, but it can also be used on the body for sagging skin of the arms, legs, and tummy. ThermiTight is done in office and usually only takes an hour per area, it is minimally invasive with some swelling and bruising, but no downtime.

Kybella is an injectable drug recently approved to melt fat in the jawline area.

  • Kybella is an acid that melts the cell membranes, and needs to be carefully placed to treat only the targeted fat which then melts away the fat.

  • The injection is done 2 times, one month apart. It is a series of 10 to 20 painless injections per visit.

  • Kybella does not address sagging skin, so while it may attack the fat it may increase skin laxity, which can be treated with our ThermiTight device.

Naturally as with many procedures, our approach changes with the advancements of technology. Along with the two procedures discussed here, we can also utilize InstaLift for an appearance of a loose neck with little neck fat. Kybella is a fat depleting treatment and although gives some skin tightening, when aging causes a more profound loose neck, rather than a fat filled neck, patient should be chosen very carefully as Kybella is not successful for loose skin. Working with an experienced Plastic Surgeon is key in making the right decision.
